Lanark Amateur Musical Society (LAMS) have selected Guide Dogs as their Charity Partner for the 2023 production of LEGALLY BLONDE: The Musical.
On Sunday 5 March 2023, the cast of Lanark Amateur Musical Society took part in Sighted Guide training with Guide Dogs Scotland. This training teaches attendees how to guide a person with sight loss, with confidence, skill and empathy.

Melissa Reilly, LAMS President said “We chose Guide Dogs as our charity partner for Legally Blonde: The Musical as it’s a fantastic local charity and dogs feature as loveable characters within the show! The cast have completed Sighted Guide training and watched the online videos so we’re all better informed about sight loss awareness and know how best to support Guide Dogs volunteers who will be bucket collecting at our performances. The training was really interesting and useful, it’s amazing what you can learn in an hour, plus Heather was a great leader!”
Guide Dogs Scotland’s Edinburgh, Forfar and Glasgow teams provide life-changing mobility services to adults, children and young people with sight loss throughout Scotland.
Sandi Johnson, Community Fundraising Relationship Manager – West Scotland said “Six years ago, I felt unable to leave the house alone due to my sight loss. I had completely lost my confidence. Since then, I have become a Guide Dog owner, with my amazing dog Kane. He has enabled me to go out alone and be more independent. I then started volunteering for the charity that has helped me to re-build my life. And now, I am a passionate employee working full time for Guide Dogs – this charity has truly changed my life.
Coming to Lanark Memorial Hall this month, LEGALLY BLONDE: The Musical is based on the popular movie. It follows the transformation of Elle Woods a sorority girl who enrols at Harvard Law to win back her former boyfriend. Along the way she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Throughout the show, very few characters have faith in Elle, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.
Guide Dogs ‘Autumn’ and ‘Floss’ will be splitting the role of ‘Rufus’ across the four performances from 23rd – 25th March at Lanark Memorial Hall.
