To mark the celebration of its 40th anniversary production, and to give back to the local community through a worthy cause, Lanark Amateur Musical Society has named Alzheimer Scotland as the official charity partner for its production of HAIRSPRAY 2020.

After a sell-out run of CHICAGO in March 2019, Lanark Amateur Musical Society will take to the stage with a rendition of the worldwide famous musical, HAIRSPRAY, performed in Lanark Memorial Hall from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st March 2020.

Hairspray is an American musical comedy set in the swinging 60s, this international smash hit musical features the infectiously feel-good songs Good Morning Baltimore, Welcome to the Sixties, You Can’t Stop the Beat and Big, Blonde and Beautiful.

Vikki McIntyre, Club President, commented: “Over the past 40 years, our group has performed a variety of full-scale musical productions in Lanark Memorial Hall, enjoyed by thousands of people within the local community. We currently have around 40 members, varying in ages from 14 to 80. We pride ourselves on being an open and accessible group, welcoming to everyone in the community who wishes to join our cast. We’re proud to have appointed our first charity partner, and that our 2020 production will support a charity close to the hearts of our cast and audience members.”

Jonathan Clegg, Lead Locality fundraiser for Alzheimer Scotland, commented: “We are delighted to have the support of the Lanark Amateur Musical Society through their upcoming production of Hairspray. Money raised by audience members will go towards our vision of making make sure nobody faces dementia alone.
